Audley P. Swearingen Collection

Harmon T. Swearingen was an early photographer who came to Guthrie after the land run of 1889. He settled there and opened a photography studio, which he operated until his death in 1931. Swearingen's glass-plate negatives record the early development of Guthrie when it was the territorial capital. He captured images of the town from its beginning as a tent city to the first brick buildings.
